In the late 1980's, Alex Streeter and his motley crew of art-world friends came up with a crazy plan... They decided to make a movie about the adventures of a band of marauding pirates and mermaids, filming and playing the characters themselves. A great deal of the movie was shot aboard the "Promised Land", a boat Alex built himself a year earlier in the style of an 1880's fishing boat.

In fact, Alex created many of the props and costumes for this movie, including the now-iconic "Mermaid Earrings". Carved in order to complete the elaborate mermaid costumes worn in the film, these webbed ear fins remain as beautifully unconventional design that are sure to turn many heads.
