The Fishbone Collection by Alex Streeter finds beauty in the darkest parts of the sea; delicate skeletal forms transformed into enduring sculptures in solid sterling silver.

First carved in the mid 80’s, this series celebratse the strange poetry of nature... where life, decay, and renewal exist in perfect balance.

In the late 1980's, Alex Streeter and his motley crew of art-world friends came up with a crazy plan... They decided to make a movie about the adventures of a band of marauding pirates and mermaids, filming and playing the characters themselves. A great deal of the movie was shot aboard the "Promised Land", a boat Alex had built a few years earlier in the style of an 1880's fishing boat.

In fact, Alex created many of the props and costumes for this movie, including various pieces of jewelry to be worn by the Mermaids. These include the iconic "Mermaid Earrings", as well as the "Fishbone collection" - a series of articulated fish "skeletons" reimagined as bracelets and necklaces.

While most of the footage has been lost to the sands of time, these beautiful sculptural pieces remain as a tribute to Alex's fantasy of a life spent at sea.
