The Amphibian Pendant is part of a series created by Alex which he documented and carved in wax the various stages of the genesis of a frog. This amphibian is in the final stage of its transformation, and has almost completed this cycle of birth known as the tadpole metamorphosis. This process was symbolic of re-creation to many ancient cultures such as the Olmecs, who believed that the tadpole was reborn by consuming itself, caught in a cycle of death and rebirth - like people, and like the natural world itself.
