In celebration of Alex Streeter's 50th year of business, we'll be taking a deep dive into the archives to bring you some never-before-seen pieces.
Introducing the Pomegranate Ring, a unique work from the early 1970's, carved by Alex at the very beginning of his career. This ring features a bounty of delicate silver granules, emulating the seeds of a Pomegranate. A leafy vine winds up each side, resulting in a wonderfully abstract and curious little piece.
In Ancient Greek Mythology, Hades, Lord of the Underworld, offers Persephone 12 pomegranate seeds as a token of his love. Persephone chose to eat six of them, thus binding herself to him and electing to live as Queen of the Underworld for six months out of the year. Today, Pomegranates remain a symbol of romantic love and passion throughout many cultures around the world.
